Chris Billington

Chris Billington. b1955 – Cornish art modernist and Digital Creative

Working full-time from his studio on The Lizard Peninsula Chris Billington's paintings are about energy - with a focus on expression through vibrant colour.   "Mine is a visual communication of optimism - utilising a palette which maximises the visual and emotional impact of colour.   My bold, dynamic forms are always underpinned by my connection with the Cornish sea and landscape.  Saturated colour spaces, infused with the atmosphere and colours of Cornwall, full of autobiographical reference points, they reflect the way that the land that I grew up in has impacted on my work".
In addition to painting and printmaking Chris Billington's practice overlaps into digital work via experiments with sound, video and imagery, in which he aims to encapsulate snapshots of the modern technological and fast paced world in digital formats that complement his traditional work.

Chris Billington has work in many Cornish and UK collections, also in international private collections, including Athens, Budapest, Cologne, Istanbul, Paris, Moscow, Tokyo and New York and several of his paintings are now in the permanent public collection of the Julich Museum, Germany. He is currently working on projects for 2012, which include Berlin - his 6th exhibition in Germany, and a solo exhibition “ 2012 – Signs : Symbols : Secrets” at TheARThouse Gallery in Bournemouth.
